Thirteen Bristol and West runners completed this week’s Parkrun on Saturday 21st July 2012. This was a relatively low turnout, no doubt due to the Towpath Mob Match on Friday evening.
On a warm and sunny morning, with minimal wind, only 2 PBs were recorded by Suzanne Dyer and Steven Emery both running in their second event. Steven wins the Performance of the Week by knocking 42 seconds off his previous best time. Newcomer Doug Booth ran 20 minutes 52 seconds for his first club run, which was 47 seconds quicker than he has recorded before.
One of the open secrets of successful parkrunning is to have a good look at the course on your first run and improve on your second effort, thereby getting a PB. The other trick is to improve by very small margins, thereby gaining a lot more PBs for your records.
Sarah Everitt has now run 49 parkruns, all at Ashton Court, so now needs only one more run to get her tee shirt.
Alison Engledew remains on 48 completed runs having volunteered this week. Other volunteers were Colin Traer, Paul Burgess and Roger Brocklesby.
All are reminded that there will be an excursion to the Southwick Parkrun near Trowbridge on Saturday 11th August 2012. Club results were as follows:
