Richard Peters, Phil Wylie and Michael Johnson finished one, two, three as Bristol & West Club runners took the first seven places in the Annual Towpath 10k mob match along the River Avon on Friday 20th July 2012. Behind them Owain Jones and Phil Parry (first vet) completed the top five. As with last year Chris Elson pulled out all the stops so the club were out in numbers – 41 runners altogether – as well as providing the quality at the sharp end of the field. Not to be outdone by the men Jenny Jagger and Annabel Granger finished first and second in the ladies race. As usual there were large numbers from Southville, Westbury, Bitton, Clevedon with good representation from Hogweed and Thornbury Runners. Kenyan Olympic Coach Bruce Lati was present watching and was pleased to see so many athletes obviously enjoying the sport – if not moving quite as quickly as his charges. Chris Elson and Keith Brackstone were delighted by the performances of the many Whitehall Runners who took part with several setting 10ks despite it being a multi terrain rather than road race.
