Just a few weeks after commenting favourably on the number and age of club competitors in the UK Olympic Trials the next age groups down showed the future of the club is in safe hands as seventeen athletes produced great performances at the English Schools Athletics Championships held in Gateshead from Thursday 5th to Saturday 7th July 2012. Gold medals for Leon Reid and Lucy Bryan – the latter in a championship best performance – silver medals for Kwame Fordwor, Lily Owsley and Olivia Sadler and a bronze medal for Bethan Wakefield would surely have left the club well up any medal table.
