Ashton Court Parkrun – Saturday 30th June 2012

Your correspondent, Roger Brocklesby, had a day off, indulging his passion for watching power point presentations in a stuffy darkened room, and came back to find there were no PBs for Bristol and West runners. There were also only 11 Bristol and West Parkrunners – our lowest turnout for quite some time but still we provided several age category winners or runners-up.

The lack of PBs meant that the voting panel had to adjourn to another stuffy darkened room for lengthy deliberations to select the Performance of the Week. Results were perused, photographs were studied and even Facebook was hacked into to see what the world and his friends might have to say. The stark facts were that Robin Dallman had another victory, beating off the challenge from a runner from San Domenico RRC in Cardiff. Richard Lowe made third place and first place in the VM40-44 category. Gary Jennings returned to the fray after his damp weekend on the Isle of Wight and came first in the VM50-54 group. Alison Engledew followed up her age group victory at the Nailsea Festival 10k with another win in the VW50-54 section; with husband David first in the VM equivalent.

A new tie break mechanism based on dress code has been introduced this week; and as a result of winning her age group and wearing a club vest, Alison Engledew collects the Performance of the Week. Helen Brookes also gets an honourable mention for wearing club colours. Sarah Everitt used the race as a warm-up for the Midland League 3,000 metres the following day.

Paul Burgess volunteered this week.
