Magnificent Seven Compete in BMC Regional Meeting – 29 May 2012

Seven athletes from the club competed in the Regional BMC races at Exeter on Tuesday 29th May 2012 with all seven running PBs or very close thereto. In the Senior 800 metres ‘A’ race Mike Wilsmore continued his great recent form coming home a clear winner in 1:51.56 – just outside his PB of 1:54.4. In the ‘B’ race Freddie Owsley finished eighth as he reduced his PB from 2:12.33 to 2:05.79 in a single race. Sister Lily made it a club double as she took the Ladies ‘A’ 800 metres in 2:12.26 and like Mike she was just outside her PB, which stands at 2:12.12. Two other athletes from Dave Taylor’s group also performed well with Jo Taylor finishing seventh in the 800 metre ‘A’ race in 2:22.91 – just outside her PB of 2:22.80. Jess Monk finished third in the Women’s ‘B’ 800 metres and took her PB down to 2:28.23 a real step forward as her first PB of the season was 2:39.4

In the 1,500 metre races Will Christofi finished ninth in the ‘A’ race and in only his third 1,500 metres ever reduced his PB to 4:04.29. Finally Kieran Young won the Men’s ‘C’ race in 4:16.69 to shave over 2 seconds off his recent PB from the Somerset Championships in Yeovil two weeks earlier.
