Olivia Sadler won the ‘A’ Women’s 1,500 metres race at the BMC Development Meeting at Milton Keynes in 4:33.38, a second quicker than her season’s opener at the Millfield BMC meeting.
At Sport City there were five club finishers in the first British Miler’s Club Grand Prix Meeting of the season as Molly Long won the Women’s ‘C’ 800 metre race clocking 2:10.02 and shaving .29 of a second off her PB which bodes well for the remainder of the season. Her Cornish compatriot Hobie Martin was sixth in the ‘G’ Men’s 1,500 metres clocking 4:00.83 – some 5 seconds off his best over the distance. There were mixed fortunes in the 5,000 metres ‘A’ race where Tom Russell ran well for third in 14:02.93 at the venue and meeting where he clocked his PB of 13:51.81 two years ago. Behind him Charlie Maclean found the pace a bit quick and finished thirteenth in 14:41.83 but will have learnt a lot from his first 5,000 metre race on the track. The sole club competitor over 1,500 metres was Dan Studley who finished second in the Men’s ‘E’ race and recorded 3:52.20 to take two seconds off his PB.
