Rich Peters has won the prestigious Mickey Cochrane award as the outstanding male athlete of the year at Boston University. He received the award, which covers all sports the University competes in, at the annual end of school year presentation ceremony on Tuesday evening. Apparently it is rare for the award to go to a sophomore rather than senior year student and underlines the remarkable impact he has made this year that culminated in his silver medal winning performance at the recent NCAA indoor championships. He also received the awards as the top track and cross-country runner of the year and was hailed as the best miler the University has ever had.
