Carole Powell the Queen of Longevity added further lustre to her Athletics CV with a win in the World Masters Indoor Championships in Jyvaskyla, Finland between 3rd and 8th April 2012. As usual Carole competed in the 60 metres, 200 metres and 400 metres – the latter being her speciality event. A second place in the 60 metres in 8.63 (the winner from the Netherlands set a new World age group record in 8.44) was accompanied by a second in the 200 metres in 28.56 (again behind the same Dutchwoman). However, in her speciality event the 400 metres Carole was a clear winner in 63.18 having run a World W55 record of 62.65 earlier in the rounds. A great picture in Athletics Weekly dated 12 April 2012 by the way.
