Saturday’s Ashton Court Park run saw 21 members taking part with an astonishing 10 setting course PBs, which must be a record. Leading the B&W AC contingent was Peter Woodward knocking 28 seconds off his course PB in second place with 17.18 with John Downsborough in fourth knocking 39 seconds off his course PB in 17.59. Next was Richard Lowe in 18.14 followed by first M50 Gary Jennings with 20.28 warming up for the Hanham Horror, and Andy Malloy in 20.39 reducing his course PB by another 30 seconds on top of his 2 minutes 31 seconds improvement last week!
The ladies trouped in next with Charlotte Green taking first place in 21.03, Sarah Everitt second setting a new course PB by 22 seconds in 21.13, Tracey Allen reducing her course PB by another 17 seconds in 21.33 and Becci Colquhoun eighth in 24.09 only 7 seconds outside her course PB. Carron Downer was again first M55, but this time setting a new course PB by 5 seconds in 21.36 while David Engeldew warmed up for the Horror with 21.57. Roger Brocklesby was in cracking form with a new course PB by 31 seconds in 24.39 with Alison Engeldew plus hound next with 26.56 and Claire Viney returning to the fray with 26.46. Sue Campbell was another to set a course PB, this time by 17 seconds in 27.52, as was Matt Payne with 28.01 a 36 second improvement and a full 7 minute 44 second improvement since last April (!) with Paul Burgess doing likewise with 28.33 another 22 second improvement. Mags Salter (accompanying daughter Abbie), Martin Riddiford and Denise Williams closed the B&W AC contingent home in 31.56, 33.25 and 33.52 respectively. This result bodes well for the summer mob races and just shows the difference a small amount of regular training can make! No wonder the Whitehall Running Group is proving so popular.
