Entries are now open for the seventh running of the Shaw Stampede 10K which takes place on Saturday 19th May @14:00 and covers the footpaths, tracks and bridleways around the villages of Shaw, Whitley, Neston & Atworth. Last year the race attracted over one hundred runners and saw 17-year old Simon Nott from Calne take victory for the second year running.
There are prizes on offer to the overall 1st, 2nd & 3rd, 1st V40 & 1st V50 Male & Female runners, along with the 1st mixed team of four to finish. New for 2012 will be the Sports team challenge open to teams of four runners from any non-running club, so with the football, rugby & hockey seasons coming to a close and the cricket season just starting to get going, this is an ideal opportunity to test out fitness levels. Entry to the event is priced at £8.00 per runner, with postal entries closing on 15th May, however entries will be accepted on the day up to 13:30 at the Beeches subject to a further £2.00 levy. All entrants must be over the age of 15 on race-day to run in the “Stampede”.
Accompanying the Stampede is a two kilometre family fun run/walk over the first and final parts of the Stampede course, called the Keane Kanter, named in memory of Keane Meyers who attended Shaw primary school and unfortunately passed away in 2009. There will also be a village fete at the Beeches Playing Fields in Shaw where both the Stampede and Kanter runs will finish.
All profits from the runs will go to Bristol Area Kidney Patients Association.
