Spring (or was it Summer?) greeted the runners for the Ashton Court Parkrun on Saturday 24th March 2012 with 17 members running. The battle for the M50 honours was intense with Jon Goodland (he runs for B&WAC on the big occasions) on 20.04 just pipping Dave Engledew by 4 seconds, with Dave only 2 seconds off his course PB. Gary Jennings and Peter Mountain were third and fourth M50s 20.16 and 20.23 respectively with Gary just 4 seconds shy of his course PB. Jacob Butterly, too, was close to his course PB with 20.40 as was Carron Downer, first M55 in 21.57. Next home was Paulo Basso (22.38) with Alex Leitch nursing his calf muscles back into action with 23.35. Alison Engledew is back to form
equaling her course PB and first W50 in 24.02 over a minute faster than last week. My spies tell me some serious training has been going on!
Becci Colquhoun was ninth lady in 24.25 followed by new Bristol & West Athletic Club Hon Sec, Paul Cooke in 24.55 and new committee member Roger Brocklesby, third M55 in 25.14 just 3 seconds away from his course PB. Katherine Stickler we timed in at 25.16 close to her course PB. Meanwhile, Andy Butterly continued his amazing ascent with a new course PB by 20 seconds of 27.15. Not to be out done Sue Campbell knocked 36 seconds off her course PB in 28.19, that’s 90 seconds in a month! It looks as if the training is working! Finally, Debbie Riddiford closed in 31.27 seconds just a shade faster than last week.
