Twelve Club athletes competed in the final Championship of the young athlete cross-country season the English Schools held at Ilton, Somerset. All year the Under-17s have run well and it is a measure of the competitiveness of the Schools event that first finisher in the Senior Boys race was Will Christofi in thirty-second place in 24.31. Zac Tobias was 42dn in 24.43, Luke Grenfell-Shaw coming back from injury finished 44th in 24.45 and Luke Jacobs was 76th in 25.20. There were 311 finishers.
In the intermediate boys Oscar Holdsworth (running for Cornwall Schools) finished 166th in 22.25 with Lewis Nightingale, running for Avon, 294th in 24.01. There were 315 finishers in this race.
In the Senior Girl’s race Tor Kenny finished 28th in 16.32 as first club finisher – inflicting a rare defeat within club circles on Olivia Sadler who was 33rd in 16.37. Billie Williams finished 273rd in 20.12 amongst a field of 307.
In the Intermediate Girls Annasley Park ran for Herefordshire Schools and finished 54th in 15.27. Jo Taylor represented Avon and finished 112th in 16.05 in a field of 330 finishers.
In the Junior Girls race Jess Monk finished 215th in 13.20 out of 337.
