After years of coaching Chris Elson and Keith Brackstone decided to offer a run and presentation at Whitehall Athletics Arena on Sunday 4th March 2012. Chris presenting on the scientific side of coaching detailing the physiological changes that come about through training and Keith on how to train to maximise these changes. Both presentations were geared towards runners who were fairly new to running or racing 10 kilometres with the up-coming Bristol 10k (20th May 2012) in mind. So the event could be held at no cost the Tea Room at Whitehall was used. A last minute change saw the two presentations precede the run and the gamble paid off as the rain dried up and apart from a very brief hail shower (only a few seconds) the run was completed in sunshine. Having estimated that they could host 26 in the tea room 28 runners (26 from the Whitehall Group and 2 Park runners) squeezed in and Chris and Keith hope that the assembled gathering found the event useful and informative and – most importantly – will help them to enjoy the Bristol 10k and hopefully come away with a PB for the distance. Watch this space – this sprightly young duo (a bit of poetic licence here) may well be back with further informative sessions in the future.
