Several club members turned out on Saturday 3rd March 2012 at the Gwent Cross-Country League at Blaise Castle and were the third team in both the men’s and ladies races. The Club’s under-13 Boys Team won the Team event in their category so congratulations to all the athletes involved and to Alison Hurford as Coach, Team Manager and Cake-Maker-in-Chief but results have still to be posted on the Gwent League web-site and an in-depth report will appear as soon as the results are up. However, positions were as follows: under-11 boys – Harry Feehily twenty-third, under-13 boys – Hugh Sadler fourth (9:01), Billy Cochrane seventh (9:15), George Green twelfth (9:34), Tom Krause thirteenth (9:35), Anton Mills seventeenth (9:53), Kieron Dunkley nineteenth (9:58), James Pyke twenty-sixth (10:21) and Kyle Haynes twenty-ninth (10.33). There wer 35 finishers in the age group. Photos of Ali, the Team and their medals are available at : Downloads – Photos.
In the under-15 age group Corey Haynes was fifteenth and Olly Hines sixteenth.
To those who don’t know, the Gwent League is one of the biggest Cross-Country Leagues in Europe so Saturday’s results were most encouraging and something which the club should look to build on in the coming winter.
