Bristol & West Athletes Compete in the National Indoor Arena

Several club athletes took advantage of the Midland Indoor Open on Sunday 19th February 2012 to find good indoor competition and none more so than Emily DIAMOND. In a stacked women’s 400 metres Emily ran a personal best 53.67 to go under 54 for the first time but this was only good for fourth place as Nicola Sanders (52.48) and Marilyn Okoro (53.33) ran seasons bests for first and second positions and Laura Langowski pipped Emily – just as she did in the UK Championships – running a PB of 53.54. Behind Emily was 800 metre international Tara Bird (54.98).

Caroline POWELL was also in action in the women’s 400 metres coming fourth in her race in a season’s best 62.79. Caroline also ran the 200 metres where she clocked a sprightly 29.25.

Another athlete doubling up was Yemma Songu who placed first in her under-17 60 metre race in 8.11 and second in the under-17 second race in 26.70. Sister Kinnie was sixth in her 60 metres in 8.49. While another Dean GARRETT coached athlete, Yate’s Emily WRIGHT, was second in the under-15 60 metres in 8.07.

Matty LATTIBEAUDIERE was the sole male sprinter at Birmingham finishing seventh in the second Men’s under-20 race in 8.11. Finally, Josh BAGNALL ran in the third Men’s 800 metres race clocking 2:08.76 for second place.
