Bristol & West Athletic Club athletes performed well at Clevedon on an unseasonably mild Boxing Day with Richard Peters (home from Boston University for Christmas) the individual winner overall in 19:11. Rich was chased by Steph Barnes’ Belgian international boyfriend JP Weerts who finished a clear second in 19:18 with Michael Johnson also from Bristol & West in third place in 19:29. James Thie of Cardiff returned to his Clevedon roots as usual and finished fourth in 19:40, with a very good run from Dan Studley seeing him finish fifth in 19:50.
Behind them there were several good runs from Dave Bedwell’s group with Luke Grenfell-Shaw (seventh in 20:47) getting the better of Zak Tobias (ninth in 21:00) and Luke Jacobs finishing fourteenth in 21:21. Mike Jacobs was nineteenth in 22:01, with Zach Marsh (fiftieth in 24:14) and George Hurford fifty-fifth in 24:25 concluding the Bristol & West contingent.
In the senior women’s event Emma Pallant of Aldershot, Farnham & District ran in Clevedon again and won in 21:11 (eleventh overall) with Steph Barnes runner up in 22:06. Behind there were good runs from Debbie Niccol (fourth lady and forty-second in 13:49), Olivia Sadler (fifth lady and fifty-seventh overall in 24:30), Kim Dyer (one hundred and thirteenth in 26:32) and Nicky Bromhall (one hundred and sixty-seventh in 27:52).
