Chris Elson missed the Parkrun due to a heavy cold and a late night sojourn at Bristol Airport but Keith Brackstone was there to encourage the club runners to greater efforts. The results reveal some startlingly good performances. Richard Lowe, returning to the fray after a chest infection, was first home in 18.32 in fourth place followed by Matt Marshall in seventh in a new course PB by 4 seconds of 19.18. Next in tenth place was Greg Chance knocking a staggering 50 seconds off his course PB in 19.31, while second M50 Gary Jennings is getting closer to his course PB again after a knee injury with 20.24.
Emma Bowers was first lady home in a course PB by 8 seconds of 21.37 with Sarah Everitt fourth lady in 22.52 and Jacob Butterly 22.58. Rikki Porter starred with a huge course PB by 59 seconds in 23.26. Finally Andy Butterly improved his course PB by 24 seconds in 31.23 (that’s over 4 minutes since May!). By extrapolation, if people keep improving in the next year we’ll have a team several Whitehall Runners in the Bristol & West AC Midland 12 stage road relay in the Spring!
If you are wondering where stalwarts such as Caron Downer, Roger Brocklesby and Noel Arthur were – all three were acting as marshals – well done guys without volunteers like you taking your turn to help rather than run these weekly events could not take place.
Dates for you diary.
