Chris Elson missed Saturday’s Parkrun due to the coach development session whilst Keith Brackstone was over at Bath preparing the course for Sunday’s Tri-County cross-country, but it appears that several members posted course PBs. Our first member back was Matt Marshall in 19.22, in another course PB by 4 seconds. Diana Kennedy was again first lady home (19.53), a course PB by 2 seconds followed by first M50 David Engledew (20.25) and second M50 Gary Jennings in 20.53. Second M55 was Carron Downer (22.33) while Helen Brooks was third lady home posting a course PB by 8 secs in 23.11. Next back was ever consistent Alison Engledew second W50 in 24.25. Paul Cook was the star performer this week knocking 58 seconds off his course PB in 24.44! He was followed by Rikki Porter (25.13), Jacob Butterly, (26.08), Noel Arthur, fourth M55 in 26.17 and Paul Burgess who cracked the 30 minute barrier for the first time in 29.43, a course PB by 22 seconds. Denise Williams and Sara Everitt completed the club contingent in 33.26.
After months of reducing PBs by large chunks members of the Whitehall Running Group who have been with us for some months are now finding their times starting to come down by smaller increments. I have dropped ‘Recreational’ when referring to them as they are certainly not recreational runners any longer – in fact the majority of them are now fiercely competitive as evidenced from the results above.
