Bristol & West Athletic Club will be taking lead roles in two major cross-country events this side of Christmas and will be looking for volunteers to help both in the run up to the events but especially on the day.
The first event will be the Run Bristol off-road events on the weekend of Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th November 2011. The Saturday will see a 10k multi-terrain fun run held in Ashton Court. This will be followed by a series of quality cross-country races in Ashton Court on Sunday 13th November 2011 that will incorporate the UK Athletics McCain Challenge series and the former Mike Sully/Gemma Butler races. The programme on the Sunday will see the first race (under-11 girls) commence at 11.00 a.m. with the final race (Senior Men) commencing at 2.30 pm. The McCain Challenge is a really prestigious series and this will be the first race of the 2011/2012 series that will conclude with the Inter-Counties in Birmingham in March 2012 so it is important that this is well supported by the club and that we host a first class event.
The second major event will be the second running of the Tri-County (Avon, Somerset and Wiltshire) Cross-Country Championships at Bath University on Sunday 11th December 2011. This event will follow the successful format from 2010 with the first race (under-11 boys) commencing at 11.00 a.m. with the final race (Senior Men) commencing at 2.40 pm.
