The annual Foxtrot Five road race will be held on Sunday 28th August 2011 starting at 11.00 from “The Common” in the village of Broughton Gifford near Melksham, Wiltshire. The course is certified for accuracy and is run under a permit from the ARC, this year the event will also benefit from precision chip timing courtesy of DB Max.
This is a major event in the Wiltshire athletics calendar and the course holds the potential for fast times, boasting course records of 25:33 for Men (set by Adrian Whitwam of Tonbridge AC in 2007) and 27:52 for Ladies (set by Amy Chalk of Bristol&West AC in 2008). The course is also very scenic as it winds through the West Wiltshire countryside and takes runners past the National Trust property of Great Chalfield House the setting for many period dramas.
Entries are open at http://www.runnersworld.co.uk/events/registrationinfo.asp?sp=&v=2&EN=60475 with prizes being awarded to the winners of the V40, V50 & V60 age categories. There are also prizes for the first team of 4-male runners and first team of 3-Ladies. All finishers will receive a memento of the event.
