Quality and Quantity Wins Mob Match

24 Jul

Having managed the team that won the Avon Mob Match held in conjunction with the June running of the Easy Runner Bridge Inn 5k Chris Elson felt under pressure to replicate the win in an away Mob Match as Great Western Runners hosted the annual county Mob Match in their running of the Tow Path 10k on Friday 22nd July 2011. He needn’t have worried as the club produced a rare combination of quality and quantity to come home easy victors. Many of the recent additions to the club through the Monday Whitehall Recreational Runners group swelled the club entry from double the level of 2010 when the club could only muster 18 athletes. This year 36 Bristol & West vests crossed the finishing line and on the way back on this out-and-back course those who were less quick but equally as valuable on the night were treated to the sight of Tom Merson leading 8 Bristol & West athletes in the first 10 finishers. These 8 – backed up by a further 28 athletes from the club – put on a display of strength in quality and quantity rarely seen from the club. So Chris you are on a roll, even more pressure now to keep it up.
