It was a promising start to the new season which spans May and June this year. A number of new members competed for the first time and performed well on a breezy day at Cheltenham.
The Athlete of the Match award is no longer awarded by the host club but each team may make an award at every meeting for the most deserving male and female athlete. In reviewing the results the team awards will be presented to new member Ella Falk GU13 75m 10.8 secs and to Jack Dyer BU15 200m 24.9secs.
The team position in the League is now determined by the event points gained by the athletes throughout the whole season plus the points awarded for the officials who support the team. Finishing second on the day very narrowly to Swindon no longer has the burden of dropped League points. Much stronger teams for the further three meetings may see the team close to the top of the Division.
The transition from Whitchurch to the new facilities at Whitehall marks the beginning of an exciting new era for Bristol & West AC.
The team at Cheltenham was supported by Club Chairman Cy Knibb who lead the field judging team. The team is grateful to Cy and also to the parents whose services were enlisted on the day.
