The inaugural Bristol Harbourside Triathlon will be held on Sunday 3 July 2011 – the race is being put on by volunteers with proceeds going to charity.
The event will include an Olympic Triathlon (1500m Swim, 40km cycle, 10km run) and a Sprint distance (750m swim, 20km cycle, 5km run) race, with a maximum of 1000 entrants in total.
The swim is in the Brunel Lock ( the water quality is being tested rigorously by the authorities and is surprisingly very clean!!), the cycle is along the Portway on closed roads, and the run is along the Avon Valley footpath.
It promises to be a great event and the organisers have over £5,000 of prizes lined up for the winners but also more accessible categories such as “Most average Swimmer” and smiliest athlete. As ever the organisers need more marshals – so if anyone would like to help out please contact them.
