National Road-Relays – 9th April 2011 – The Season’s Major Road Target

31 Mar
This is an update on the composition of the men’s and women’s teams for next week’s National 12-stage, the final selection of which will be made on Monday. A mini-bus has been booked and will leave various locations from 8.20 am before the final pick-up point at the Icera car park at Aztec West at 9.00 am. Allowing for a short comfort break we aim to be at Sutton Park for 11.00 am. The Men’s race commences at noon and the Women’s race at 12.20 pm (same as the Midlands).
Men’s Teams
The following have all confirmed their availability (injury and illness permitting), and on current form both teams look to have the best chance of medal success for some years.
Shaun Antell; Andy Chambers; Andy Cooke; Chris Dodd; Steve Francis; Steve Goss; Sean Hazell; Mike Johnson; Owain Jones; Tom Kingsnorth; Tom Lowe; Angus Maclean; Charlie Maclean; Steve McGuigan; Tom Merson; Steve Mitchell; Ollie Mott; Phil Parry; Matt Peters; Danny Randell; Tom Russell; Simon Thornton; Harry Webb; Rob Whalley; Jon Wills; Mike Wilsmore; Dan Woolford; Phil Wylie.
Mike Down is still awaiting a few replies. While a medal is obviously the target for the A team, the challenge for the B team is to win their section!
Women’s Teams
The women’s ‘A’ team are strong medal contenders and it will be up to other team managers to get their strongest teams out as only strong Aldershot or Charnwood teams look capable of denying us this year.
‘A’ team (provisional and in running order) Charlie Wills, Hannah Alderson, Annabel Granger, Amy Stiles, Imogen Ainsworth, Rebekah Randell
‘B’ Team Nikki Brookland, Vicky Tester, Jenny Jagger, Julia Belyavin, Sian Davies, Camilla Briggs.
Travelling Reserve: Ali Hurford
Official suppporter: Clare Stevinson.
Pre-National Road-Relay Warm-up
For anyone who wants a low key warm-up the Bitton club are staging a 4X5M road relay on the towpath between Bitton and Bath on Sunday at 11am. The event is a fund-raising exercise for the Avon County AA, and as a club we would naturally like to support it. If any of you is willing to have a run – it could be used as a tempo training session – please let Mike Down know asap
