The day after the Women’s Team’s comfortable Midland Road-Relay win, longer distance specialists and running mums Lucy MacAlister and Amy Chalk finished second and fourth respectively (and first and second Britons) in the Hastings Half Marathon. Both declared themselves happy with their times on what is known to be a hilly course. Lucy followed up her 73.42 PB in Bath were a very solid 75.50, while behind her Amy clocked 77.35. With the winner of the Men’s Race – Kenyan Gordon Mugi – clocking 68.00 it is clear to see that the race is well worth 2 minutes quicker on a flatter course.
Next up for Lucy is the Brighton Marathon while Amy will be in action strengthening the Women’s team on Saturday 9th April 2011 in the National Women’s six-stage relay and a recent session on the hills in Sneyd Park showed she will be a real asset over 3 miles as well.
