The venue is Ashton Court Estate Long Ashton, Bristol BS41 9JN. The event will be using the rooms above the Visitor Centre/Stable Yard /adjacent to the Mansion House – so you need to arrive via the Bower Ashton Kennel Lodge Road entrance. The Estate website is www.ashtoncourtestate.com
Parking: There is ample on site.
Changing: There are no public facilities to shower but participants will need to bring running gear and a change of clothing.
The day will be very informal with a mix of seated indoor “classroom style” presentations by the Team and practical running/training sessions. The practical sessions are designed to suit all levels of ability but will show everyone how to get the maximum out of training and what to do leading up to race weekend.
It is also worth going even if you have an injury as you will still learn a lot about running and will also be able to talk to a Physio.
A timetable for the day is available at the race website:
If you could arrive between 9.30am and 10am (but not before please as the organisers will be preparing the room !) they will check your name is on their register then let you make yourself a cup of tea/coffee or water – so if you prefer an alternative drink please take it with you.
Nick Anderson and Bud Baldaro will lead the day. Special guests will be a Lucozade Sport scientist and actress Phoebe Thomas who some of you may know as “ nurse Maria Kendall” from Holby City – she will tell the story of how running is now a large part of her life. The University of Bristol Sports Injury Clinic staff will also be on hand throughout the day to offer advice and treatment – so please see them as soon as soon as you arrive to book a 1:1 slot to discuss any injuries or problems you may have.
Lunch please remember to bring your own or use the café.
Bring running kit and a change of clothes and a water bottle.
