Steve Francis PB Leads a Bristol & West four in six at latest Bridge Inn

Steve Francis ran 15.08 to take a further 22 seconds off the PB of 15.30 that he set in January’s Bridge Inn. Coming home a clear winner, Steve was followed home by Charlie Maclean in 15.25 in his first run in Bristol & West colours. Behind training partners Luke Jacobs and Zac Tobias had their usual close encounter with Luke (16.05) prevailing by 7 seconds over Zac (16.12) as the pair finished fifth and sixth. The battle for third place was won narrowly by Ben Coldray of Stroud (15.34) from Carl Goose (15.35) of City of Norwich.

Luke Grenfell-Shaw was another club under-17 to impress as he came home in third place in the under-17s) and fifteenth in the race in 16.50. First vet was Mike Jacobs in 16.52 (shown as unattached but Mike should surely join his son in Bristol & West colours as he would make a great addition to our vets team). In the Senior Ladies it was good to see Grace Crane win in 19.55 – again for the host club. Alison Hurford was second lady and first ‘veteran’ lady and must have been slightly frustrated with 20.05 as I know she dearly wanted to break 20 minutes – never mind Ali in 5 weeks time it will happen.

A big thank you to Chris Elson and his team of helpers for once again staging this popular monthly event. I know Chris would always welcome more help so please contact him if you can spare a couple of hours on the last Tuesday night of each month.

The fifth and final race of the Winter Series will be held on Tuesday 29th March 2011 starting at the Bridge Inn at 7.30 pm. Entries will be taken on the night.
