Strong Men’s Team for National Cross-Country Says Mike Down

It’s less than a fortnight now to the highlight of the cross-country season for all clubs in the country – the National at Alton Towers, which is where against all expectations we took the bronze medals in 2008. On paper we definitely have a stronger team than was fielded that day, and we could just prove to be the dark horses again.
The following are the runners we have entered:
SENIORS
ROBBIE BUGDEN; ANDY CHAMBERS; MATT CRANE; STEVE FRANCIS; STEVE GOSS; MICHAEL JOHNSON; OWAIN JONES; TOM KINGSNORTH; TOM LOWE; STEVE MCGUIGAN; TOM MERSON; DAN NOAD; PHIL PARRY; TOM RUSSELL; HARRY WEBB; ROB WHALLEY; ROB WHITHAM; JON WILLS; DAN WOOLFORD; PHIL WYLIE.

U20
MATT DEACON; SEAN HAZELL; MATT PETERS; ANDY WOODS; NATHAN YOUNG.

There will be a minibus leaving Aztec West at 8.00 am while Robbie has generously offered to arrange for a small group to stay overnight on Friday in one of the houses at RAF Cosford, where he is stationed. I suggest that those who have a long way to travel take him up on his offer. I know already that Phil is interested, and imagine the Devon contingent might also be. He can be contacted by e-mail at: running-rob@hotmail.co.uk.

Looking further ahead to the 12-stage road relays I can now confirm that former GB international Angus Maclean and his namesake Charlie Maclean, the reigning steeplechase champion, have both joined the club and will be available for selection. This could be the big one guys!!
Mike
