Club Coaches Declare Qualification for National Senior League as Top Priority for 2011

28 Jan

The first Bristol & West Coaches Forum held at Whitehall on Wednesday 26th January 2011 discussed several coaching-related topics before concluding by identifying club priority targets for 2011 – these were as follows:

1.  Secure promotion to the National League Competitions for both genders at senior level. In order to achieve this the club needs to:

        i.      Prioritise the Midland Track and Field League to enable the club to make it to the Promotion    Final and then win the final.

ii.      Identify events where the club lacks athletes and recruit actively (without poaching) and use the higher competition rules where appropriate.

2.  Target the Premier Division of the National Young Athletes League (NYAL). In order to facilitate this the club should:

        i.      Recruit more girls – but especially in the under-13 age group.

ii.      Identify additional Team Managers/Team Assistants to support Dean Garrett, Hilary Nash, Simonne Lowery and Andrea Lock (Dave Taylor advised that he would be stepping down from NYAL Team Management).

3.  Support ‘Team Avon’ in the National Junior Athletes League (NJAL).

            i.      This could become a recruitment tool for the club for athletes moving to senior level in clubs with no senior section.

ii.     Raise awareness of ‘Team Avon’ and what it is trying to achieve.
