Angus McLean shows a glimpse of his former form to win the Bridge Inn

Angus McLean led home the 102 finishers in the third race of the popular ‘Easy Runner’ sponsored Bridge Inn series on Tuesday 25th January 2011 when he cruised to victory in 15.10. On the result sheet as ‘unattached’ Angus is a lapsed member of Bristol & West Athletic Club and even now Mike Down is probably on the phone asking him to renew his membership. Matt Ellis of Westbury Harriers finished second in 15.16 a great run from him and further indication that training with Chris Elson’s group is helping him enormously in shorter races. Behind there was a tussle between Bristol & West’s University duo of Steve Francis and Chris Dodd as both ran PBs. Steve (15.30) prevailing over Chris (15.39) as they finished third and fourth in the race. Behind them Matt Crane ran well for fifth in 15.45.

In sixth place Under-20 Gregg Halliwell of Stroud dipped under 16 with a 15.57 clocking and Mick O’Doherty was a clear Vets winner in 16.15 (and easily took the over 50 prize).

If Bristol & West were to the fore in the Men’s race then it was Westbury Harriers to the fore in the Women’s race where Emma Dalton (17.46 and seventeenth overall) and Robyn Golding (18.15 for twenty-fourth overall) scored a Westbury one-two with Katy Livingston of New Marske Harriers third in 18.21.

The fourth race in the Winter Series will be held on Tuesday 22nd February 2011 with the usual rules applying: so 7.30 p.m. start and entries available on the night.
