Club Athletes Score Double 1-2 in Avon Schools Inter-Cross Country

Miranda Sadler (13.20) and Victoria Kenney (13.21) scored a one-two in the Avon Schools Intermediate girl’s cross-country held on Saturday 22nd January 2011 both finishing 30 seconds clear of Brimsham Green’s Lauren Ellis (13.50), while in the equivalent boy’s race Zak Tobias and Luke Jacobs repeated the feat with Luke just edging Zak by one second (16.11 to 16.12) both finished well clear of cameron Coetzee (17.00). Lewis Nightigale finished ninth in 18.44 to just make the top ten and will obviously finish much higher in the same age group next year. Pat Krause was thirteenth in 19.21. Both races were close fought affairs demonstrating the strength of Bristol & West athletes in these age groups.

In the Senior girl’s race Olivia (15.07) made it a second individual win for the Sadler household as she also came home over 30 seconds clear – the runner up in her race was Lucy Atkins in 15.39. In sicth palce was Billie Williams in 16.47.

In the Senior Boy’s race Matt Deacon was first club finisher in fourth place (18.31) whilst behind him Zac Marsh seventh in 18.57 and Geroge Hurford – tenth in 19.59 – were the other Bristol & West interest.

In the younger age groups Tom Krause was twenty-eighth in the Minor boys and it is clear that the club could do with some talent spotting in these age groups.
