There were some fine individual performances at the Gwent League but pride of place must surely go to Ellie Wimshurst who returned to the country with a fine win in the Senior Women’s race. The under-20 athlete showed her seniors a clean pair of heels coming home first of the 176 starters in a time of 24:13 – 22 seconds clear of runner up K Roberts of Bridgend. Behind Ellie Vicky Tester showed the benefits of Chris Elson’s sessions finishing 20th in 26:40 and Ali Hurford was 38th in 28:00 – another athlete benefitiing from Chris’ group’s sessions.

The only other female athlete to compete was Olivia Sadler who finished second in the under-17 girls race in 20:55. Olivia was 35 seconds behind winner Ffion Price of Brecon in a field of 28 finishers.

In the Senior Men’s race first man home from the club in twelfth place was Matt Peters in 33:28 in a race won by Dewi Griffiths of Carmarthen. The welsh international was 31 seconds clear, winning in 31:38 from a field of 291 finishers. Second Bristol Club man home in 18th place was Phil Parry in 34:19 (this run placed Phil second in the V45 category).

In the under-15 boys race Jack Last finished 41st in 20:24 and Kal Sevenzo 44th in 20:53. The race was won by Alex Carter of Team Bath in 16:37.
