The Avon County Athletics Association and the Avon Network are working together to provide County Event Development Days. The County’s focus in this is to promote athlete development; the Network’s focus is on coach development and education.
The first event day is on Sunday October 17th at Bath University between 10a.m. and 4p.m. and will cover the Jumps events.
Tim Snowdon, the Avon Network Coordinator, has been able to secure the services of Mike Dolby to lead on High Jump, Femi Akinsanya to lead on Triple Jump and Brian Hooper to lead on the Pole Vault. (Tim is still in discussion for a Long Jump coach of similar standard but hopes to have this finalised by early next week). Their brief is to work with a group of coaches for the day and to demonstrate how they would work with both beginner and also more experienced athletes.
Tim is hoping that all coaches or potential coaches with an interest in the Jumps from across Avon will be able to attend, whether qualified at Leader in Athletics/Children in Athletics, Level 1/Coaching Assistant, or fully qualified levels. For coaches in Avon Network clubs there is no charge for the day. The Club would encourage any jumps coaches and parents who might wish to become involved to attend the day. If you are thinking of attending either as an athlete or coach please e-mail Tim Snowdon on email@example.com as soon as possible.
