Bristol & West AC Makes Welcome Return to National Senior Track & Field Competition

22 Jun

To All Club Members,
After a long absence, the Club makes a welcome return to national track & field competition with a place in the British Athletics League Cup (10 in 100) regional semi-finals, hosted by the Club at Yate on Saturday, July 24th 2010. Fielding our best team, we will make a determined bid for a place in the National Finals in September. At full strength we could surprise the National League teams from Cardiff, Swansea, Southampton, Swindon and Exeter.
Furthermore, we could win the non-league teams’ match and gain a place in the national Plate Final
There will be both men’s and women’s teams, with one athlete competing per event, over a limited range of events:

100m, 200m, 400m, 110m Hdls, 800m, 1500m, TJ, PV, JT, HT, medley relay (200, 200, 400, 400).

100m, 200m, 400m, 100m Hdls. 800m, 1500m. TJ, PV, JT, HT.
Team selection, one athlete per event, will be based on the club’s best performance rankings produced by Mike Strange. If you are currently ranked in the top three places in the above events then please let me know, by Saturday July 10th if you are available and wish to be considered for selection.

This fixture could also be a stepping stone to us returning to the BAL and/or the UKWAL as long as we do well in the Midland League and are successful in the playoff matches.
