Christina in Different League at Yate

At Yate Christina Jones was the undoubted star with a magnificent Hammer Throw of 48.08m.  This is a big breakthrough so early in the season – perhaps we can expect a throw of 50m + before the season is out.  On the track the wind turned around after the hurdles and increased to something unpleasantly strong for lapping runners but not a great hindrance for the sprinters.  Yannick Budd didn’t really bother in the 110H (Senior) yet he won by 30m in a new pb of 16.83.  One hopes you will try in the Midland League this coming Saturday Yannick and then you will improve your pb further.  Our 3 competitors battled through an entertaining 800m with debutant Alex Fields storming away on the first lap only to be overhauled by training partner John Brearley and Josh Bagnall.  Times covering the group ranged from 2 mins at the front to 2:04 in 3rd.  Avon League Team Manager Simon Park was delighted to break his pb again (he did it last week as well) for the 100m with a hand timed 11.7 secs.  Geovaughan Burey also showed outstanding form in the 100m & 200m.

Our young women’s team showed great form and pleased Team Manager Dave Taylor to bits.  His report indicates these achievements : Well done to all the girls and young ladies who competed in today’s Avon league at Yate.  There were some terrific performances notably in the sprints and middle distance events with the pick being the U17 ladies race where the club fielded the first four finishers.
