At last we are into the Indoor Season in earnest. There was a great 800m final at the Welsh Championship in Cardiff that saw Tom Marley winning supremely in 1:53.27 and then Lloyd Rice looking strong and fast with a 60m in 6.97. Over at Bath and exceptional in terms of all the weekends competitions Lucy Bryan vaulted a new club record (snr indoor and out) of 3.60m. There is much more to come yet from an athlete who has only just moved up to the U17 age group.
Club indoor records were also achieved by Yannick Budd 60H (u20) 6.97 and Mariame Diomande TJ SW 12.12
So this to week’s top performances;
1st Lucy Bryan
Where do I list Lucy? She isn’t yet a Senior but her 3.60 vault is a new Senior Club Record. Just an u17 Lucy is charging from strength to strength and at this rate should be a hopeful for the London Olympics. She has wiped Clare Morrison from our record books and remember that Clare was UK no 1 when she achieved. Neil Winter is doing a great Coaching job.
2nd Mariame Diomande
Mariame’s 12.12m jump at Bath was a Club Record for this athlete who really seems to be achieving under Paul Weston’s coaching. We look for excellent TJ & LJ performances from this French athlete in the Summer.
3rd= Daisy Da Silva
Daisy shown her Pole Vaulting promise in the Midland League last year (also an u17) and it is good to see back in the results with an outstanding pb of 2.62m.
3rd= Alyssa Small
The daughter of an ex Dynamo AC athlete Alyssa confirmed her outstanding family talent by heading the 17 other u15 entries in the 60m with a 8.51 clocking. This also is a Club u15 Record
1st Tom Marley
A superb and confident victory and Welsh Championship medal for Tom. He controlled from the front and ran away in the final lap.
2nd Lloyd Rice
Lloyd ran Ht & S/f in full control but was squeezed out to 4th in a very tight finish in a very fast 6.97.
3rd Martin Flook
If you have seen Martin clawing his way back to fitness since being diagnosed with diabetes then you will understand how sweet his 4th place 800m final run of 1:55.30 felt for him. Even though Martin was struggling with blood sugar levels on the day he won through.
1st Yannick Budd
Yannick is now training regularly at Whitchurch and showed his form with a good Club Record in the 60mH at bath with a 8.79 clocking. We are sure Yannick will show further improvement next week in the Welsh u20 Champs at Cardiff.
2nd James Preston
James consolidated his recent outstanding Shot Put throws with a 13.51 throw on this occasion.
3rd= Scott Bajere
It was great to see that B&W filled the first 2 places in the 60m u20 final at Bath and Scott, who showed good 100m form at the end of last season was the winner on this occasion with 7.14 (7.13Ht).
3rd= Theo Campbell
Theo was pushed back to 2nd with a 7.17 clocking but then moved on to win the Triple Jump with a fine 13.18m jump.
