NYAL Midland Premier, Cheltenham

Sunday 21st June 2009

Assured performances from Jake Cussell in the BU15 shot, long jump and high jump gained him the Club Award for the male athlete of the match. Geovaughn Burey who won the BU15 100 and 200 races was in very close contention and is a hot favourite for the award at the final fixture in July. He may well have done enough to gain selection for the Avon Schools team to compete in the English Schools championships.

The female club athlete of the match award goes to Valentina Santo-Fullerton. A tremendous effort to undertake 100m, 200m and 300m in one afternoon especially after competing in the South West Schools meet the previous day. A new PB in the winning the 300m shows great promise for the rest of this season but also next year within the same age group.

Lucy Bryan GU15 competing at the same time as the U17s enjoyed jumping higher than all competitors bar one U17.

The team was not numerically strong enough to contest the match and fouth place was the expected disappointing outcome. It will now need some effort to build up training groups to be able to fill team slots across the full range of events.

The provisional match score, AoMs to date and individual performances from yesterday are shown below:
