UKA have announced a team of five athletes for next month’s European Cup 10,000m in Ribeira Brava, Madeira. The event has been identified as a key opportunity for British athletes to compete against international opposition in quality men’s and women’s races.
It is one of a series of expanded opportunities for British endurance runners to race 10,000m on the track this year. Opportunities that have already included races at Birmingham University and the British University & College Sport Championships (BUCS) in Bedford in recent weeks.
Among those selected is Claire Hallissey, who earlier this month, won the British Universities and College Championships at Bedford and then took second place in the Bristol 10K, going under 34 minutes in the process.
