Track and Field

Midland Track & Field League (Men & Women)

Promotion to Division One achieved!

This promotion has been achieved against great odds. As with the young athletes earlier, it was the whole team which secured promotion – athletes and their coaches, managers, officials and all other Club volunteers before and on the days of matches.

It shows the importance of every individual when we finish second equal but gain promotion on points scored. Every athlete who took part knows they contributed to the overall success (see below). I echo Chris Elson’s words, ‘a big thank you to the officials – Mike Strange, Pete Davenport, Murray Grant, Bill Kingston, Chris Preston and Martin Travis and the co-team managers, Mike Down, Murray Grant, Paul Weston, Martin Davies and Simonne Lowrey.

I would like to point out that our Club owes great thanks to Chris Elson himself who took responsibility at the beginning of the season to create the big lift-off and who was the main Team Manager throughout. This was on top of his normal job of Membership Secretary.
